ANVIL

ANVIL is a sixteen-pad drum sampler for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. Use it as a VST3 instrument in a compatible DAW, or as a Standalone application.

Install ANVIL

1. Download your purchase. Open your confirmation email or Lemon Squeezy orders and download the ANVIL installer.
2. Close your audio applications and run the installer. Follow the prompts for the VST3 instrument and Standalone application.
3. Check the VST3 location. The standard location is C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\. If your download contains a VST3 bundle for manual installation, place the complete bundle in that folder.
4. Rescan in your DAW. Look for ANVIL under Stones Audio. For Standalone, launch the installed ANVIL application.
5. Activate your license. Enter the key from your purchase email while connected to the internet.

ANVIL compatibility

Your DAW must support VST3 instruments on 64-bit Windows. ANVIL has been tested in FL Studio, Ableton Live, Bitwig Studio, Reaper and Serato Studio. Other compatible hosts may work; this is not a claim that every host and version has been tested.

Pro Tools requires AAX, which ANVIL does not provide. Audacity and Sound Forge do not host ANVIL as a VST3 instrument. Standalone provides a way to use ANVIL without a DAW.

Samples, kits & routing

Build a kit

Load WAV, AIFF or FLAC samples from Explorer or the built-in browser. Each pad has its own sound-shaping controls. Use round robin for variation between repeated hits, and pad linking to trigger two sounds together.

Keep the samples with your project

A kit file refers to your samples; it does not bundle them into an archive. Keep the referenced audio files available. If a sample moves, use ANVIL’s locate function to reconnect it.

Route your pads

Assign pads to Main or Aux 1 through Aux 7 and configure your DAW mixer to receive the buses. Output routing is stored with the DAW project. Loading a different kit leaves that routing in place.

Add NAM character

Load a Neural Amp Modeler capture, select the pads that feed it, and add an impulse response if needed. The per-pad mask and NAM settings are saved with the kit.

Record & export in Standalone

Recording and file export are Standalone features. Arm a take with a count-in or first-hit start, play your part, then stop and export.

• WAV: 16-bit, 24-bit or 32-bit float.
• FLAC: 16-bit or 24-bit.
• Optional silence trimming and TPDF dither in the export controls.
• The metronome click stays out of the recording.

FETCH

FETCH is a standalone application for 64-bit Windows 10 and later. It scans VST2, VST3, AAX and CLAP plugin folders without requiring a DAW to be open. The installer bundles the required runtime.

Install & scan with FETCH

1. Download FETCH. Use your order confirmation or the orders portal.
2. Run the installer. Follow the prompts and choose an installation location.
3. Activate your license. Use the key from your purchase email. An internet connection is required for activation.
4. Configure Scan Paths in Settings. Include the VST2, VST3, AAX and CLAP folders you use, plus any custom plugin locations.
5. Run a scan. Search the library or filter it by format, manufacturer and category. Review duplicate matches before making changes.

Real-time directory watching is an optional beta feature. A manual scan remains available.

Backups & quarantine

Back up selected plugins

Create an individual or bulk backup before changing your collection. Choose a backup folder in Settings and review the timestamp of each saved copy. Retention settings control how many backups are kept per plugin.

Keep vendor installers, sample libraries and license information as well. Copying plugin files does not replace a vendor’s installation or activation process.

Quarantine and restore

Quarantine moves selected files out of their original locations. Restore a single file or an entire event when needed. Writing back to a protected location may require administrator permission. Permanent deletion is a separate action.

Review leftovers

The Leftover Scraper groups results by match type: direct files, DAW data, filename matches and DAW caches. Read the paths and leave anything you need unselected before confirming.

Keep a record

Use History to review scans, backups, quarantine, restores and uninstalls. Export the activity record when you need a separate copy.

Windows installation warnings

Windows may display a warning for an installer that does not have an established code-signing reputation. Check that the file came from your Stones Audio purchase and note the exact warning before continuing.

If SmartScreen or Smart App Control blocks installation, or Microsoft Defender quarantines the download, contact support@stonesaudio.com with the product version and a screenshot of the message. We can help identify the appropriate next step for that specific warning.

License & activation

ANVIL and FETCH use a perpetual license with one active computer per purchase. Updates are included. Initial activation needs an internet connection; after activation, the applications can be used offline.

Find your key

Your license key is in the Lemon Squeezy order confirmation email. If it is missing, check the orders portal or contact support with your purchase details.

Move to another computer

1. Deactivate on the current computer. Use the license deactivation control inside ANVIL or FETCH. This releases that computer’s activation.
2. Activate on the new computer. Enter the same license key in the app on your new computer.

Each product license allows one active computer at a time. If deactivation or reactivation fails, or you no longer have access to the old computer, email support@stonesaudio.com with your order details and the exact message.

Get product updates

Open Settings in the application and use Check Now in the updates section. When an update is available, follow Download Update to your order downloads.

Close the application and your DAW before running the installer. Updates install over the existing version and retain the activation. Read the release notes for version-specific instructions.
